Of Seeds and Suet

I made my suet and the birds are eating it, I'm so excited! So I didn't actually get suet from the butcher because that's gross, so I used lard instead (which is also gross, unless it's in pie crust, which is why I have it). I mixed it with flour, peanut butter, bulk bird food mix, some sunflower seeds I found and some old dried fruit that I had that I didn't seal up well and was going to throw away because it's rock hard. So yeah, I heated that all up on the stove until the lard was melted and it looked like bird mix soup kinda, and then poured it into mold (crescent moon shaped!) and let it sit on the counter until it cooled, then I popped it into the fridge until it hardened up all nice. After it hardened I popped it out of the mold and poked a hole in it and threaded a stray ribbon through and hung it up. So far I've seen 2 birds, but it's been pecked a lot when I haven't been looking. My bird luring plan is working. During the summer I won't be able to use lard b/c it will melt, but they should be eating the garden bugs by then, so that's okay. I'll still put out some bulk mix to lure them in, but really, I want them for the plants. Also, they're pretty.

Also, my seeds haven't shipped yet according to the website, that's lame, but they did say it could take up to a week to process and another week to ship, so it's not like I wasn't forwarned, I'm just impatient.
